Teton Valley Composite High School Athletic Letter Requirements 2025

To earn a club letter, high school student-athletes (9th-12th grades) must meet the following requirements during the race season (June through the first week of October):

  1. Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

  2. Attend at least 80% of scheduled practices, excluding those cancelled by the head coach. Local races will count toward a practice when they occur on the same day.

  3. Compete in at least 4 out of 5 races during the season.

  4. Participate in two or more community service or volunteer activities, such as trail maintenance, the July 4th parade, Music on Main, GRiT, the Tin Cup, Wilderness First Aid training, or similar events.

 

Program Structure and Oversight

Each high school athlete will be assigned a coach or mentor to support and monitor their progress toward earning a letter. Athletes may choose to communicate openly and regularly with their mentor, head coach, or team director throughout the season to track progress and ask questions.

Timeline and Oversight Procedures

  • May: The Head Coach (HC) and Team Director (TD) will distribute the current lettering criteria to athletes and families and ensure the website reflects up-to-date information.

  • June: HC/TD will assign each high school athlete to a coach or supervising coach (approximately five athletes per group).

  • July, August, September (Beginning of Each Month): Supervising coaches will provide progress updates to each athlete.They will not have access to school records/GPA.

  • October: Final progress updates will be given before the last race and after the season concludes. The HC/TD will inform athletes and families whether a varsity letter has been earned.
